Career History Technical Manager (Coating) 2000-2002
Achievements
¥ Implemented change over to a cellular manufacturing
structure and involving the shift operators at all stages
to create an open working environment..
¥ Developed the skills of the coating process operators
to meet increased output demands.
¥ Introduced a quality management system to monitor
the production.
¥ Introduced SPC to achieve a reduction in variation on quality
critical processes and implemented process improvements to
reduce material defects by 39% in the coating department.
¥ Working with suppliers to improve raw materials used,
achieved a 16% increase in productivity.
¥ Project Manager on the ink contract tender process, which resulted
in a 15% saving, per annum, in associated raw material costs with
enhanced service levels and R&D from the selected supplier.
¥ Introduced a new COSHH system and where necessary implemented
new procedures andlor protective equipment to meet current legislation.
This included sourcing safer chemicals where possible.
¥ Led several risk assessment teams, as part of the company safety
culture introduced by the Production Director, which contributed to
a 65% decrease in accidents across the company.
¥ Prepared high quality documentation for all project work including
the submission of departmental reports for the monthly board meeting
and provided technical support for departments across the company.

Achievements
¥ Managed product trials at customer sites and negotiated
subsequent supply agreements.
¥ Organised and ran development trials in the production department.
¥ Optimised production support by the team leading to 11 %
reduction in external resource allocation
¥ Where necessary instigated corrective actions in partnership with
other departments on the production site to resolve any
quality issues in the customer supply chain.
¥ As UK manager for the Technical Service Team, I Implemented a
project management system in the UK team, that the European team
adopted after the six-month assessment period was completed.
¥ Reduced response times to customer requests by 18% without
increasing costs while improving the presentation and quality
of customer reports & presentations.

Achievements
¥ I
was responsible for the development of a polymer resin based
product range to replace the products being sourced externally.
¥ Implemented
the production of all polymer resin ranges, manufactured
with the relevant health & safety requirements, to IS09002 standards.
¥ Negotiated
supply agreements, planned and supervised
the resin based production.
¥ This
included the design and installation of manufacturing
lines in the UK and Hong Kong.
¥ I
was involved in the marketing launch to the customer base
and provision of technical expertise.
¥ Analysed
customer requirements and proposed tailored
packages to target major contracts.

Following initial training as a quality control technician where I was
responsible for the testing on a shift basis of all products made
on the site, I increased my skills and abilities by studying via the
Open University to progress to the position of Development Chemist.
In this position I was responsible for new product development in
consultation with the marketing department, technical support for sales
team, sourcing of new or more cost effective raw materials and the
provision of production support to the factory when process problems
arose that were beyond the ability of the quality control department
to resolve.
